Financial Peace Course ​ ​ If your bills are suffocating you, we’ve got a plan to help. Through this program, we will show you and walk you through how to beat debt and never worry about money again. ​ Join us for this 8-week cours e on how to create financial peace in your life. We will be meeting at the church on Tuesdays, with our first session on January 9, 2024. ​ The cost for the course is $50 per a family. Groups What the past few years have taught us is that sitting in a room with people, look them in their eyes and ask, "how are you" is a life enriching experience. ​ This is what Groups are. A chance to hear and pray for the people in your group. Then a chance to talk about the people in our lives that we want to share Jesus' love with, pray for them, and strategize on showing that love. You will be greeted at the door, offered to help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea and at 10:30am people start to sit down in the sanctuary. The children aged 3 to grade 5 join us for worship, then are dismissed for kids church during announcements. Then there is some teaching from the bible and how it affects our lives. After the service, people visit and drink some more coffee or tea. What will happen the first time I visit? You will be greeted, people will talk to you and welcome you, but we do not try to embarrass or point out visitors. What should I wear? At South, there is no dress code. Wear what you feel comfortable in. We value authenticity and would rather you be yourself. What would be your culture or flavour? South is a pretty casual church that values people being themselves. There is lots of energy with the amount of children at the church, and we want everyone from the youngest to the oldest to feel at home at South.

Bible We know that habits shape who we are. That is why, as a community, we are focusing on developing habits that will transform us to become more and more like Jesus. One of the habits that we are focusing on is reading the Bible. The Bible is an incredibule book, in fact it is a collection of 66 books which are different genres and styles. As a result some find reading the Bible intimidating or have no clue where to begin. Prayer We know that habits shape who we are. That is why, as a community, we are focusing on developing habits that will transform us to become more and more like Jesus. One of the habits that we are focusing on is prayer. Prayer can be confusing, frustrating, intimating and many other words all wrapped up in one. Below are resources to help you as you develop the habit of prayer. Remember that the main goal of prayer is to be with and know God. Books Prayer by Timothy Keller ​ Too Busy Not To Pray by Bill Hybels ​ ​ Bible Look at these different bible reading plans about prayer ​ Prayer Revolution Prayer Basics The Pilgrim's Prayer ​ The Lord's Prayer “Our Father…” Take a moment and think about the idea of God as your Father, with good intentions toward you. “In heaven…” Take a moment to think about the idea that God is all around you. “Hallowed by your name…” Spend a few minutes just sitting with the Father in joyful, grateful, worship. You might want to sit in silence for a few moments. Or sing a chorus. Or rattle off a list of things you’re grateful for. Or praise God with specific things you love about him. “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…” Spend a few minutes asking for God’s will to be done in your city/church/community/life. Think of specific things to pray for. “Give us each day our daily bread…” Spend a few minutes praying for specific needs and wants in your life or that of your community. This is also a great time to pray over specific people in the community who need something: a job, healing, wisdom to make a decision, etc. “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors…” Spend a few minutes in quiet asking God for forgiveness for specific areas in your life, and releasing others to forgiveness. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Spend a few minutes praying against temptation (the word can also be translated trouble) in your life. Pray against specific sins…. Pray against any kind of evil - spiritual evil (demonic), human evil, natural evil, etc. ACTS Adoration During this time, focus directly on God, adoring Him for Who He is-- His names, His character, His roles, etc. Worship and praise God with your heart, mind, and voice. ​ Confession As we remember who God is in adoration, we are reminded of who we are. We are fallen people who sin, have shame, and guilt. So, confession is the natural next step in this prayer model. We can ask God to search us and show us where we have fallen short. Then let’s ask Jesus to honestly deal with our sin. ​ Thanksgiving This is a time for prayers of thanks for what God has done. Thank Him for salvation, the many blessings in your life, protection, provision, open doors, opportunities, and His gifts to man. ​ Supplication Prayers of requests. This is the time to ask God for His help to meet needs, solve problems, work in someone's life, etc.

Ladies Morning Out Calling all ladies of City South Church! Join us for coffee and chats at City South Church! We will be meeting in one of the child friendly spaces at the church, so kids are welcome to join! Our plan is to have some guided discussion, but of course keeping it informal.
